Power Control Brain
Our Power Center Brain (PCB) constantly communicates with the generation assets (PV array and genset) while monitoring battery voltage and system statistics. Instead of supplying power directly to loads in the event that renewable sources are inadequate, it keeps the battery bank in a state of readiness by supplying a charge when required. It is designed to deliver substantial savings on fuel usage and cost.
Photovoltaic Battery Energy Storage
We offer fully customizable energy storage options utilizing lithium ion or advanced lead acid battery configurations. Our base model incorporates versatile, maintenance-free power through 12-12V monobloc lead acid gel batteries. The thixotropic gel enables these batteries to be completely spillproof providing many available options for installation. The gelled electrolyte gives more protection to the battery plates, and is better suited for the deep cycle discharge often needed in off-grid PV applications. With longer discharge and less charging time, these batteries are ideal for renewable energy applications. Configured as a 48V system, we provide total energy output of 675 Ah with an additional 675 Ah available (20 hr discharge rate).
Diesel Engine-Generator Set
Our systems come standard with a 20 kW or 30 kW diesel prime power genset. In addition, we provide an on-board fuel bladder with a diesel fuel capacity of 45 gallons. An additional 45 gallon tank can be incorporated into a spare trailer bay.
Inverters
The Polk Solar system has a modular inverter system that can be sized to meet required operating conditions. The hardware is robust and reliable under heavy use and harsh operating environments. Designed for safety and system protection, all connectors are contained within the enclosure, eliminating unintentional contact with system components. The inverters are available in a variety of voltages and phase configurations.
Load and Asset Monitoring Interface
A truly intelligent user interface that communicates with the operator critical system statistics, both locally and remotely, including:
- PV kWh harvested (instantaneous and cumulative)
- Power output (from inverters)
- Battery bank termperature and state of charge
- Genset fuel tank level
- Alarm conditions
